The Zander's Facts 2024 Election Preview
Zander's Weekend Facts #143 - Sunday, November 3, 2024
The 2024 United States presidential election has already defined the odds, and the votes haven’t even been tallied yet.
Just a few months ago, an election between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump seemed improbable. President Joe Biden withstood calls for his departure from the race until nearly the last possible moment, stunning the nation when he stood down on July 21. His decision vaulted Harris to the Democratic nomination and launched a campaign that could win the presidency after failing to exist just 105 days ago. Trump survived an assassination attempt in July, while also running a campaign after having been found guilty on 34 counts in an illegal scheme to influence the 2016 election.
On Tuesday, this unparalleled election cycle will reach its natural conclusion, as the American people will cast their ballots to determine the 47th President of the United States.
Out this morning, a brand new edition of Zander’s Facts previews the presidential election, with Zander making a prediction on who will be declared the winner. Plus, Zander breaks down the Congressional races to watch, as well as every detail you need to know before Election Day.

Rapid-fire Facts
Here’s a recap of the top news headlines from the past week:
Presidential Election: The final days of the 2024 U.S. presidential election have arrived, with Election Day taking place on Tuesday. Polling has indicated a tight race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, however, a wrench may have been thrown into the race on Saturday night. On Saturday, a poll from Iowa’s Selzer & Co., seen as one of the nation’s most accurate pollsters, found Harris up by three points over Trump in the Hawkeye state, which Trump won by eight points in 2020. Also on Saturday, Harris visited NBC’s Saturday Night Live and made an appearance on the late night program. Supreme Court - Election Cases: The Supreme Court made two consequential emergency rulings last week. In Pennsylvania, the high court ruled that Pennsylvania voters who had their mail-in ballot invalidated can fill out a provisional ballot, rejecting a challenge from the Republican National Committee. In Virginia, the high court ruled that the state’s purge of over 1,600 individuals the state believes are non-citizens from voting roles can proceed, despite taking place within 90 days of an election.
Economic Numbers: The U.S. economy continues strong growth in the third quarter of the year, with gross domestic product (GDP) growing at 2.8% in the last three months. Estimates had expected 3.1% growth and the 2.8% growth of the third quarter is down from the second quarter of 2024’s 3.0% growth. The October jobs report, released on Friday, was less stellar as the economy added just 12,000 jobs last month. The Bureau of Labor Statistics noted that both Hurricanes Helene and Milton, as well as a strike of Boeing workers, negatively impacted the numbers. The gain is the smallest monthly job add for the economy since December 2020.
